Kat Dennings was born on June 13, 1986, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania and was named Katherine Victoria Litwack. The mother of her child, Ellen, was a speech and poetry therapist, while her father, Gerald, was a molecular pharmacologist as well as a professor at a college. Dennings is the smallest of five kids and was brought up in a family that was all Jewish. Dennings was homeschooled, and then briefly enrolled in a traditional school. This arrangement with homeschooling was the most suitable option for her since she was a child with the desire to be an actor from an early stage. Dennings was able complete high school by the time she was 14. Already at age nine, she started to act in commercials. Her family moved to Los Angeles after she graduated high school to allow her to take up acting. Kat Dennings is the name she chose to audition under when auditioning. Kat Dennings' debut as an actor was in the HBO series "Sex and the City" when she relocated to LA. Kat Dennings starred in "Sex and the City" on HBO.
